Crocs did it! Finger-shaped charms that can be attached to holes are sold exclusively on the official website

Many people probably love Crocs sandals, which are popular all over the world. Some people enjoy customizing their shoes by inserting charms into the holes in the instep.

Meanwhile, Crocs’ official website has started selling a limited edition of extremely unique charms. It’s actually a set of 5 charms shaped like toes.

As you can see from the image above, when you put it on, it looks like your fingers are sticking out of the hole. If you walk around town with this, you’ll probably be able to surprise a certain number of people.

Maybe you misunderstood the April Fool’s joke? You may think so, but it’s true. It’s on sale on Crocs’ official website.

A set of 5 pieces costs $19.99 (approximately 3,050 yen), so you’ll need to buy two sets to wear them on both feet, but if you wear them on both feet, the impact will be incredible.

These toe charms actually create the illusion that your toes are sticking out of the hole in your Crocs.

The finger is sticking out, isn’t it dangerous? I even feel like a kind person would warn me.

Uncertainty Surrounds UN Palestinian Membership Vote

United Nations, United States — The Security Council vote on the Palestinians’ bid to become a full member state of the United Nations is expected to occur Thursday or Friday, diplomats said, as discussions continued.

Several diplomatic sources had told AFP earlier that the vote would take place on Thursday, but the situation has since changed with some member states asking for a Friday vote.

No firm decision had been taken as of late Wednesday, according to several diplomatic sources.

“It’s still in the air,” Slovenian Ambassador to the UN Samuel Zbogar told journalists.

“The vote is tomorrow at 3:00 o’clock. I’m sure. If you don’t believe me, you will see it tomorrow,” said Palestinian envoy Riyad Mansour.

Malta’s diplomatic mission, which holds the presidency of the Security Council in April, has yet to confirm a schedule.

Whatever the date, the Palestinian initiative appears doomed to fail due to opposition from the United States.

The Palestinians, who have had observer status at the world body since 2012, have lobbied for years to gain full membership, which would amount to recognition of Palestinian statehood.

Any request to become a UN member state must first pass through the Security Council — where Israel’s ally the United States wields a veto — and then be endorsed by the General Assembly.

In light of Israel’s offensive in Gaza following Hamas’s unprecedented October 7 attack, Palestinians revived a 2011 UN membership application last week, prompting the Security Council to launch a formal review process.

Taiwan’s Next President among Time ‘Most Influential’

Taipei, Taiwan — Taiwan’s incoming president Lai Ching-te has made Time Magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People of 2024”, which the island hailed Thursday as a recognition of its “democratic achievements”.

Vice President Lai, who won the January presidential election to succeed Tsai Ing-wen, will take office on May 20 at a time of growing tensions between Taiwan and China.

Beijing claims the self-ruled island as part of its territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring Taiwan under its control.

China has ramped up military and political pressure in recent years and has denounced Lai as a “dangerous separatist” because he — like Tsai — refuses to acknowledge Beijing’s claim.

“(T)he health of the island’s 23 million inhabitants is just one part of a much larger task he is inheriting: ensuring his government’s very survival, amid China’s amped-up campaign to reclaim the nascent democracy,” Jon Huntsman, a former governor of Utah and one-time US ambassador to China, wrote in Time.

He added Taiwan’s “risk profile couldn’t be higher”.

Taiwan’s Presidential Office praised Lai’s entry to the list, calling it an “important recognition from the international community to the democratic achievements” of the Taiwanese people.

It added Lai would “bear the crucial responsibility of safeguarding Taiwan’s democracy”.

Also making Time’s list of the influential was Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who ascended to the country’s number-two position last year.

Tsai made the list in 2020, with Republican senator Ted Cruz calling her a “signal light casting out China’s looming shadow, conveying to the world that Taiwan will not acquiesce to the Chinese Communist Party”.

Riel Makes Debut in Tokyo Airport

PHNOM PENH – Foreign currency exchange company Travelex has begun trading riel at Tokyo Haneda Airport after the first launch succeeded at Changi Airport in Singapore. In partnership with the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), the initiative aims to promote the riel’s use in international markets.

The exchange of the riel at Japan’s International Airport makes it easier for Japanese tourists visiting Cambodia to change their yen for riel and especially to encourage more international tourists to visit Cambodia.

The inclusion of the riel on the Tokyo trading charts increases confidence in the use of the riel and enables the NBC to intervene in the exchange market to stabilize the riel. In addition, the greater use of the riel stabilizes the Cambodian economy and mobilizes more reserves.

Hong Vanak, director of international economics at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said tourists will have the convenience of exchanging the currency before coming to Cambodia.

“Tourists won’t have a long way to access the exchange at the banks or anywhere else. They can have riel banknotes as soon as they arrive,” he said.

NBC and Travelex will expand the initiative in other countries.

Health Minister Vows to Steadfastly Achieve Medical Reform

Health minister Cho Kyoo-hong has vowed to steadfastly accomplish medical reform, which he stressed as being an imperative task.

Cho made the pledge on Thursday when chairing a government response meeting on the collective action taken by trainee doctors in protest of the government’s planned medical school admissions quota hike.

The minister stressed that medical reform is a task that is imperative to protect the people’s lives and health, saying such reform would entail boosting regional and essential medical care while making preparations for future demand for medical service.

Cho then again called on the medical community to enter into dialogue to jointly discuss substantial ways to execute such reform, which the minister said is no different from proposals made by doctors’ associations.

With Cho’s remarks, the government has demonstrated its intent to push forward medical reform in the most definite manner since the general elections.

Finance Chiefs of S. Korea, US, Japan Recognize Currency Concerns

Anchor: Following the recent sharp depreciation of the Korean won and Japanese yen against the dollar, the finance chiefs of South Korea, the United States and Japan have acknowledged “serious concerns” and agreed to consult closely on foreign exchange markets.
Koo Heejin gives us the details.

Report: Finance chiefs of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan formed a consensus on the recent depreciation of the won and the yen against the dollar, and the need to jointly address market volatility.

Finance minister Choi Sang-mok, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Japan’s finance minister Shunichi Suzuki issued a joint press statement to that effect on Wednesday following their first trilateral talks, which were held on the sidelines of the Group of 20(G20) finance leaders’ meetings in Washington, D.C.

This statement comes after the won buckled against the dollar past the 14-hundred mark on Tuesday, for the first time in 17 months. The Japanese currency on Tuesday also weakened to a 34-year low against the dollar to 154-point-seven yen.

In the joint statement, the finance chiefs said they will also continue to consult closely on foreign exchange market developments in line with their existing G20 commitments.

The three sides also said that they will continue to cooperate to promote sustainable economic growth, financial stability, as well as orderly and well-functioning financial markets.

In addition, the finance chiefs emphasized the importance of collaboration to overcome supply chain vulnerabilities and the possible harm to their economies from non-market economic practices of other countries, in an apparent reference to China.

The three sides also affirmed their commitment to utilizing and coordinating their countries’ respective sanctions in response to Russia’s war against Ukraine and North Korea’s weapons programs.

Meanwhile, in a separate briefing Bank of Korea(BOK) Governor Rhee Chang-yong reiterated to reporters that the central bank holds the necessary resources and methods of intervention to ease any volatility caused by the weakening Korean won against the U.S. dollar.

Rhee, however, assessed the latest surge in the exchange rate to be a temporary phenomenon.
