ABEMA, the innovative future of television, broadcasted the nation’s largest anime award, “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2023,” on the ‘Anime SPECIAL Channel’ starting at 20:00 on December 27th. The program featured the “Japan Anime Trend Awards Ceremony,” where ABEMA conducted a strict review based on data aggregated by major media outlets, announcing winners in various categories. The Anime Song Award was awarded to YOASOBI’s “Idol,” the theme song of the TV anime “Oshi no Ko.”
The “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2023” reflected on the trends of 2023 and also introduced upcoming works for 2024. The main MCs were Iwai Yuuki of Haraiti, Inoue Yusuke of NONSTYLE, Mikata of Tenjin, and Murakami of Magical Lovely. The show was hosted by Utagaki Misato, with guests including Matsumura Sayuri, Shogo of Tokyo Hotenison, Mita Mao, and Sekai of EXILE / FANTASTICS.
The Anime Song Award was presented to YOASOBI’s “Idol,” the theme song of the TV anime “Oshi no Ko.” This song achieved significant milestones, including ranking first as the most-played song domestically on Spotify, being the fastest domestic song to surpass 200 million plays, topping the annual playback count for anime theme songs on TikTok, securing first place in the Yahoo! Japan Search Awards 2023 Music Category, and being named the most sung song of the year in the DAM Karaoke Ranking Award 2023.
