Father’s Day in 2024 falls on June 16th. This holiday is said to have originated when Mrs. Dodd in the United States gave white roses to express gratitude to her father, inspired by Mother’s Day. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year, and this year it falls on the 16th.
In anime, fathers often play significant roles that influence the story’s direction. They are depicted in various ways, from being loving and devoted to their family, to being lazy and exasperating, or even being the protagonist themselves. A survey was conducted to determine which “father” characters are most memorable.

1st Place
Hiroshi Nohara from “Crayon Shin-chan”
Support rate: about 18%. “He’s a father who supports his family while paying off a home loan. His love for his wife Misae, son Shin-chan, and daughter Himawari always brings me to tears. However, his only flaw is his smelly feet…” and “Especially in the movies, he delivers many cool lines like ‘Life doesn’t go according to plan, that’s why it’s life!’ which I love. As a child, I just thought he was a funny dad, but as an adult, I respect him for working hard while cherishing his family.” His performances in the movies are also memorable.
2nd Place
Loid Forger from “SPY×FAMILY”
Support rate: about 9%. “He initially formed a family for his spy mission and was confused at first, but gradually learned how to deal with his daughter Anya, which is amusing. Despite the struggles, he manages to get by, just like any regular dad,” and “He’s top-notch as a spy and also handles household chores skillfully, which is impressive!” and “I can’t get Anya’s ‘Papa’ out of my head (lol).” Even though it’s a pretend family, his awakening as a father is impressive. He ranked in from the hit 2023 movie “SPY×FAMILY CODE: White.”
3rd Place
Naruto Uzumaki from “BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS”
Support rate: about 7%. “The protagonist of ‘NARUTO,’ Naruto, appears as Boruto’s father in the sequel ‘BORUTO.’ It’s touching to see the once mischievous Naruto now a respectable father,” and “He shows warm affection not only for Boruto and Himawari but also for Kawaki, whom he welcomed into the family.” For fans who followed the series, seeing Naruto become a father is deeply emotional. Naruto’s father, Minato Namikaze, also ranked 9th, making it a father-son entry in the top 10.
