The first chapter of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Castle Arc will be released on July 18, 2025. Along with the announcement, a new promotional reel for 2025 and the key visual were unveiled. The release of the movie ticket information, which will start on March 7, was also disclosed.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an anime adaptation of the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, published by Shueisha under the Jump Comics imprint, which has sold over 150 million copies in total across 23 volumes. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons, as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his demon-turned sister, Nezuko, back into a human. The series is known for its heart-wrenching tale of humans and demons, intense sword-fighting action, and occasional comedic scenes that have made it popular worldwide.
Produced by ufotable, the anime series began in April 2019 with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Tanjiro Kamado, the Beginning Arc, and has since expanded with further seasons. After the final episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc aired in May 2024, it was announced that Mugen Castle Arc would be produced as a trilogy.
The first chapter of Mugen Castle Arc will be released on July 18, 2025. It has been confirmed that the film will also premiere simultaneously in IMAX theaters, marking a large-scale domestic release in 443 theaters (390 regular screens and 53 IMAX screens), surpassing the Mugen Train Arc which was released in 2020. The film will also be gradually released in over 150 countries and regions worldwide. Following its domestic premiere, the movie will expand beyond the previously held “World Tour Screenings” in both Japan and overseas.
As part of the announcement, the key visual was revealed, depicting Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps, along with demons, in the Mugen Castle, hinting at the beginning of the final battle.
