The highly popular manga “Blue Exorcist” is gearing up for its latest TV anime series, “Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Arc”, set to premiere in January 2024. After a 7-year hiatus, fans are eagerly awaiting this anticipated release.
The series, serialized in Jump Square, is a dark fantasy that has achieved more than 25 million copies in circulation. The story revolves around the protagonist, Rin Okumura, who, as the son of Satan, the king of demons, pursues the path of an exorcist while battling demons.
The anime adaptation began in 2011. It was followed by a film in 2012, and in 2017, the TV anime’s second season titled “Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc” was broadcast.
The upcoming “Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Arc” serves as a continuation of the previous “Kyoto Impure King Arc”, introducing a mysterious new adversary: the organization called “Illuminati”. The objectives of this organization and its relationship with the protagonists will be at the core of this new arc.
Both the teaser PV and the key visual have been released, showcasing the main characters. The staff includes Daisuke Yoshida as the director, Toshiya Ohno for series composition, Yuri Higashi for character design, and music by KOHTA YAMAMOTO and Hiroyuki Sawano. The series is produced by Studio VORN.
Regarding the cast, it was announced that Nobuhiko Okamoto would reprise his role as the main character, Rin Okumura, and Jun Fukuyama will return as Rin’s twin brother, Yukio Okumura, among others from the previous series.
