People often say that everyone has a martial arts dream when they are young, especially for boys. They are deeply moved by the chivalry and tenderness portrayed by Jin Yong. When I first read “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” I was quite young and was deeply touched by the love story between Guo Jing and Huang Rong. I always felt that when I grew up, I should go out and perform some chivalrous deeds.
At the time, I wasn’t interested in the filming locations. It was many years later that I learned that the shooting location for “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” was actually on Peach Blossom Island in Zhoushan. Having the opportunity to visit here today feels like fulfilling a Jin Yong martial arts dream. Moreover, it is said that the later series “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils” was also filmed here. Thinking of the ethereal Wang Yuyan, it feels like the beauty of this scene is beyond description.
The season we visited was perfect, with peach blossoms blooming all over the sky. The idyllic scene described in “Three Lives, Three Worlds” couldn’t be better than this. What I find most unforgettable is the Peach Blossom Valley scenic area on the island. It feels like the island’s best ecology and most beautiful environment are right here. I’m not sure what Tao Yuanming’s Peach Blossom Spring looked like during the Jin dynasty’s Taiyuan era, but the peach blossoms on Peach Blossom Island are truly breathtaking.
