The “Ya Boy Kongming!” anime series, also known as “Paripi Koumei,” is set to release a feature film titled “Road to Summer Sonia.” Announced on the show’s official website, this compilation movie will include both re-edited scenes from the original series and new content. The film is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on March 1, 2024.
The anime, produced by P.A. Works, originally aired as a 12-episode series in Spring 2022 and was globally simulcast by HIDIVE, with the exception of Asia.
Based on the comedy-drama manga by Yuuto Yotsuba and Ryou Ogawa, “Paripi Koumei” debuted in Comic Days magazine in December 2019, later moving to Weekly Young Magazine in November 2021. As of October 5, Kodansha has released 15 volumes of the manga, with over 2 million copies in circulation.
In May 2021, Kodansha USA began digitally publishing the English version of the manga. The 13th volume was released on September 19, with the 14th slated for December 19.
Plot Summary
Zhuge Kongming, famed as a master strategist during China’s Three Kingdoms era, yearns for peace as he faces death in the Battle of Wuzhang Plains. Reincarnated in modern Tokyo, Kongming retains his memories and youthful appearance. Confused yet intrigued by this new world, he stumbles into a nightclub where he meets aspiring singer Eiko Tsukimi. Her performance captivates him, and Eiko, sympathizing with his disorientation, introduces him to contemporary life and music. Spotting Eiko’s raw talent, Kongming becomes her manager, vowing to help her gain fame. Despite the cutthroat nature of the music industry, Kongming is ready to use his ancient battle tactics to achieve their dreams.
