The popular manga “Babanbabambanban Vampire” by Hiromasa Okujima, serialized in “Bessatsu Shonen Champion,” is set for both a live-action movie and a TV anime adaptation. This double announcement was fittingly made on February 29, a date known as “Garlic Day” that occurs once every four years, accompanied by comments and illustrations from Okujima.
“Babanbabambanban Vampire” is a vampire-themed romantic comedy created by Hiromasa Okujima. The story revolves around Ranmaru Mori, a 450-year-old vampire disguised as a live-in part-time worker at a public bathhouse. Ranmaru is on a quest for the ‘ultimate taste’ – the blood of an 18-year-old virgin, closely monitoring the growth and purity of Jin Lee, the bathhouse owner’s teenage son.
The adaptations were confirmed on the rare occasion of “Garlic Day,” creating a buzz among fans who eagerly anticipated the adaptations with comments like, “This is too exciting!”, “Happy for both anime and movie!”, and “Can’t wait to see Ranmaru in action!”. The live-action film, a collaborative production between Shochiku and TV Asahi, is set for nationwide release in 2025, distributed by Shochiku. Additionally, the TV anime is scheduled for broadcast in 2025 on the TV Asahi network.
