On Thursday, June 6th, Tokyo DisneySea’s eighth themed port, “Fantasy Springs,” had its grand opening.
By 6:30 a.m., a large crowd had already formed in front of the entrance gates of Tokyo DisneySea, eagerly waiting for the opening. Police officers were also present at the bus terminal.
“Fantasy Springs” consists of three areas based on Disney movies “Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “Peter Pan,” as well as the “Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel.” It is the only themed port in the world with the theme “A Disney Fantasy World Led by Magical Springs.”
Before the grand opening, a ceremony was held with the presence of Toshio Kagami, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Oriental Land Co., Ltd., Yumiko Takano, President (and CEO), Kenji Yoshida, President (and COO), Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. They expressed their gratitude to the guests and everyone involved and declared the opening of “Fantasy Springs.”
The ceremony was attended by 100 members of the Tokyo Disney Resort Official Park Fan Club “FanDuful Disney,” who were selected through a lottery. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Anna and Elsa from “Frozen,” Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from “Tangled,” and Peter Pan and Wendy from “Peter Pan” also joined the celebration, making it a grand and festive event.
Construction of Fantasy Springs began in May 2019 and took about five years, with a total investment of approximately 320 billion yen. Covering a total development area of about 140,000 square meters, the largest since the opening of Tokyo DisneySea in 2001, “Fantasy Springs” adds new attractions to Tokyo DisneySea.
