The results of the “Japan Character Awards 2024,” an award in the character and licensing business industry, were announced on July 3rd, revealing that the popular manga and anime “Chiikawa” won the Grand Prix. The award ceremony was held at Japan’s largest licensing business exhibition, the “15th Licensing Japan.”
The “Japan Character Awards” (formerly Character & Brand of the Year) was established in 2009 to widely promote the value of the licensing business industry to society and contribute to the healthy development of the industry.
In its 15th year, “Chiikawa” won the Grand Prix, while “Chiikawa,” “Oshi no Ko,” and the “Mobile Suit Gundam” series received the Character License Award. “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” received the New Face Award. “Ichiban Kuji” (Bandai Spirits) won the Product Licensee Award, “Happy Set Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary” won the Promotion Licensee Award, “Sesame Street Market” won the Retail Award, and the “Pretty Cure” series received the Selection Committee’s Special Award.
