Cambodia’s main exports of garments, footwear and travel goods (GFT) continued to decline amidst global challenges and in the January to October period, the exports recorded a slide of 16.90 percent, compared to the same period last year, triggering chances of further job losses in the sector.
According to the latest trade data of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), Cambodia exported $8.96 billion worth of GFT goods during the first ten months of the year, a sharp decline from the $10.78 billion the country exported during the same period in 2022.
GFT goods, the biggest export earner for the country, helped Cambodia earn $12.63 billion last year, an increase of 15 percent compared to 2021. But this year, the earnings from the sector declined essentially due to the worsening international economic situation and the subsequent drop in demand, especially from the US and the European Union (EU).
The GFT goods exports for October 2023 alone showed a decline of 5.69 percent year on year, going down compared to the previous month’s 4.16 percent decline. In fact, the GFT goods exports declined every month during the year so far except in June when they gained one percent growth relative to June 2022.
The exports in August 2023 declined by 11.12 percent and in July by 28.15 percent compared to the respective months last year. The decline in exports for May 2023 was 17.03 percent compared to May 2022. For April, they showed a decline of 30.42 percent, for March by 14.60 percent, in February by 24.54 percent and by 28 percent in January, compared to the respective months
last year.
The decline in GFT goods exports continued even as almost all other sectors registered growth in exports, the GDCE data showed. Overall, Cambodia’s exports ended up with a marginal rise of 0.2 percent in the January to October period this year, compared to the same period last year.
Within the GFT sector, knitted apparel articles brought in $4.54 billion till October this year, a decline of 17.6 percent, compared to $5.51 billion earned for the same period in 2022. Non-knitted apparel articles earned $1.92 billion, compared to $2.23 billion for the same period last year, again a decline of 13.7 percent year-on-year.
Travel goods netted $1.40 billion until October this year, compared to $1.58 billion for the same period last year, registering a decline of 11.8 percent year-on-year. Footwear exports earned $1.08 billion for the first 10 months this year, also showing a decline of 24.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year when they earned $1.44 billion.

ទំនិញ GFT ដែលជាអ្នករកចំណូលបានពីការនាំចេញដ៏ធំបំផុតសម្រាប់ប្រទេសនេះបានជួយកម្ពុជារកចំណូលបាន 12.63 ពាន់លានដុល្លារកាលពីឆ្នាំមុន កើនឡើង 15 ភាគរយបើធៀបនឹងឆ្នាំ 2021។ ប៉ុន្តែនៅឆ្នាំនេះ ប្រាក់ចំណូលពីវិស័យនេះបានធ្លាក់ចុះយ៉ាងសំខាន់ដោយសារតែស្ថានភាពសេដ្ឋកិច្ចអន្តរជាតិកាន់តែអាក្រក់ និងការធ្លាក់ចុះជាបន្តបន្ទាប់។ នៅក្នុងតម្រូវការ ជាពិសេសពីសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក និងសហភាពអឺរ៉ុប (EU)។
ការនាំចេញទំនិញរបស់ GFT សម្រាប់ខែតុលា ឆ្នាំ 2023 តែមួយបានបង្ហាញពីការធ្លាក់ចុះ 5.69 ភាគរយពីមួយឆ្នាំទៅមួយឆ្នាំ ដោយបានធ្លាក់ចុះបើធៀបទៅនឹងការធ្លាក់ចុះ 4.16 ភាគរយកាលពីខែមុន។ តាមពិត ការនាំចេញទំនិញ GFT បានធ្លាក់ចុះជារៀងរាល់ខែក្នុងអំឡុងឆ្នាំរហូតមកដល់ពេលនេះ លើកលែងតែខែមិថុនា នៅពេលដែលពួកគេទទួលបានកំណើនមួយភាគរយធៀបនឹងខែមិថុនា ឆ្នាំ 2022។
ការនាំចេញក្នុងខែសីហា ឆ្នាំ 2023 បានធ្លាក់ចុះ 11.12 ភាគរយ និងក្នុងខែកក្កដា 28.15 ភាគរយបើប្រៀបធៀបទៅនឹងខែនីមួយៗកាលពីឆ្នាំមុន។ ការធ្លាក់ចុះនៃការនាំចេញសម្រាប់ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ 2023 គឺ 17.03 ភាគរយធៀបនឹងខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ 2022។ សម្រាប់ខែមេសា ពួកគេបានបង្ហាញពីការធ្លាក់ចុះនៃ 30.42 ភាគរយសម្រាប់ខែមីនា ដោយ 14.60 ភាគរយនៅក្នុងខែកុម្ភៈ 24.54 ភាគរយ និង 28 ភាគរយនៅក្នុងខែមករាធៀបនឹងខែរៀងៗខ្លួន។

នៅក្នុងវិស័យ GFT អត្ថបទសម្លៀកបំពាក់ប៉ាក់បាននាំមកនូវប្រាក់ចំណូលចំនួន 4.54 ពាន់លានដុល្លាររហូតដល់ខែតុលាឆ្នាំនេះ ធ្លាក់ចុះ 17.6 ភាគរយ ធៀបនឹង 5.51 ពាន់លានដុល្លារដែលរកបានសម្រាប់រយៈពេលដូចគ្នាក្នុងឆ្នាំ 2022 ។ អត្ថបទសំលៀកបំពាក់ដែលមិនមែនជាប៉ាក់រកបាន 1.92 ពាន់លានដុល្លារ ធៀបនឹង 2.23 ពាន់លានដុល្លារសម្រាប់ រយៈពេលដូចគ្នាកាលពីឆ្នាំមុន ធ្លាក់ចុះជាថ្មីម្តងទៀតចំនួន ១៣,៧ ភាគរយធៀបនឹងឆ្នាំមុន។
ទំនិញធ្វើដំណើរទទួលបានប្រាក់សុទ្ធចំនួន 1.40 ពាន់លានដុល្លាររហូតដល់ខែតុលាឆ្នាំនេះ ធៀបនឹង $1.58 ពាន់លានដុល្លារសម្រាប់រយៈពេលដូចគ្នាកាលពីឆ្នាំមុន ដែលធ្លាក់ចុះ 11.8 ភាគរយពីមួយឆ្នាំទៅមួយឆ្នាំ។ ការនាំចេញស្បែកជើងរកបាន 1.08 ពាន់លានដុល្លារសម្រាប់រយៈពេល 10 ខែដំបូងក្នុងឆ្នាំនេះ ហើយក៏បង្ហាញពីការធ្លាក់ចុះ 24.6 ភាគរយធៀបនឹងរយៈពេលដូចគ្នាកាលពីឆ្នាំមុននៅពេលដែលពួកគេរកបាន 1.44 ពាន់លានដុល្លារ។
